I stay at Alicia's Bed and Breakfast, but it is in town and not close to the ocean. Sounds to me like you'd like Hotel Playa Azul, or maybe Sol Cabanas del Caribe. I haven't stayed at either, but I think they fit your description. I've stayed at Casa del Mar and I liked it a lot. But I believe it is more of a corporate owned atmosphere. It's only 2 stars so it isn't in that megaplex category. Look into those places. They might be what you're looking for. I've also heard good things about Hacienda San Miguel, but I don't believe they are oceanside. I have heard they are very charming rooms.
