Alicia's B & BPosted by Trudy on June 04, 2001 at 22:33:53: In Reply to: costa club or lorena posted by susie on June 04, 2001 at 20:33:00:
: Trying to plan an economical trip for August. : thanks in advance
I've stayed at Casa del Mar and they were decent. They are across the road but with bridge access. You can also just cross the street if you're not there during high season. Traffic in July wasn't too bad and you didn't have to do the bridge. I liked it there. Now if you're looking for real savings, try booking an air only package through Apple Vacations, Funjet, ATA, or Travel Charters. Something like that. It will be your best airfare. You could also try Priceline.com...I haven't done that, but I have some friends who did. Then book a room at Alicia's Bed and Breakfast. The rooms go for $35/night. That gives you bed or hammock (I like sleeping in a hammock), ceiling fan, a/c, mini-fridge, sparkly clean rooms, your own bathroom, and they throw in an awesome breakfast. The only drawback is that it is not oceanside. It's in a neighborhood away from the beach. If you rent a car, then it's no problemo. If you don't (and I don't) you will have no trouble catching a taxi to where you want to go. There is a supermarket and restaurants within walking distance. You can safely walk anywhere on the island...I walked and walked and walked...alone...this last August. You can't do better than Alicia's. http://www.gis.net/~alicia/cozumel.html Check out their website.
