: Why do you want to stay at an all inclusive in Cozumel?
: There are so many great places to eat in town. Not sure
: where you are coming from or when you are going but
: check out Apple and Funjet, they have many great
: specials going now. We are going to 10 days in June
: and it is only $1303 pp from Chicago.

: : I've talked to so many travel agents by now and I can't find an all inclusive on the beach for under a grand. I have thought Cancun but I'm not in to clubbin all that much. From the pictures I have seen it looks to civilized for me, I could just go down to the Florida Keys and save a lot money. Any other nice places in Mexico on the beach and maybe a club like Carlos and Charles would do.

That was my question too? As far as AI goes, I think the most reasonably priced one is El Cozumeleno. I don't do AI, so I'm not sure on that.

I stay at Alicia's Bed and Breakfast which is a great place in a residential neighborhood. When I want the beach, I just catch a cab. I pay $35/night for the room. That gives me two beds and two hammocks to choose from. It also includes great coffee and a wonderful breakfast each morning. Chuco makes the best guacamole I've ever had. He is a great cook. The place is spotlessly clean and more like staying with family or friends. You can be a recluse and keep to yourself, or you can join the others and be gregarious. It's your choice. Website at www.gis.net/~alicia/cozumel.html You won't be sorry you tried them. There are lots and lots of places to eat on the island for your other meals. There's more information about places to eat on the Travelnotes board.

If you absolutely must be near the ocean, I stayed at Casa del Mar. It is a two star hotel and is better than that rating would indicate. It was the cheapest place I could find when I was looking for a ocean side hotel. It's close to Ernesto's Fajita Factory for cheap meals. Taxi to town is under $3 one way. The beach is across the street and the snorkeling is decent. It is a sister hotel to the more expensive La Ceiba and you may use their beach facilities. La Ceiba is within easy walking distance.

I did a resort dive from the front of Hotel Lorena. It looked like a nice place to stay. I know it is moderately priced.

I've heard the Hacienda San Miguel is very nice with lots of charm. Never a bad report on that one.

I just don't see looking elsewhere when there are many less expensive options available. Stop at Chedraui and pick up some booze for some cheap drinking and you've got the world by the tail.

When booking a place that does not have a package price, just book air only on a charter such as Apple Vacations, Funjet, Travel Charters, or ATA. They all have the option and it's much cheaper than Continental.
