Just a quick thanks to all who helped in the planning of the best vacation ever! We had a great time thanks to the tips and suggestions of the board here, thought I'd share some of what we did-

My husband & I stayed at the Costa Club and found the accomodations to be good- We didn't go AI because I purchased the 2 for 1 meal card that I found while surfing the travelnotes board- Great deal by the way, we ate 2 for 1 at Morgans, the Lobster House, Tony Roma's, Manati and The Parrot Club.
The first day was Sunday and we spent the day at Chankanaab, it was our first time snorkling and it was awesome- the park was empty and found a perfect spot under a palm to hangout. We spent a least 4 hours in the water marvelling at the sea life, saw that big ass barracuda that lives under the raft/platform, got a good pic of that ugly mug.. Got a funky drink in a pineapple and had some sandwhiches, good food, not too pricey($15 USD for lunch). Spent the evening taking a look at the shops, and people watching. Lots of vendors people, & music in the square on Sunday evenings- We were glad we got to see the locals in their element.
Day two we rented our jeep through National, right in the hotel lobby($55-). and headed to the Jungle Horseback riding tour. Met Gail and her daughter Heather, who run the show- Had a great time riding with Heather, very peaceful in the jungle- saw a bat cave, a cenote, beautiful blue butterflies and some ruins. This was cool because it was just my husband and I in the tour- We got to really run the horses to which was fun but I was walking funny for a few days after(40$ may have been a bit steep-)- Had lunch at Morgan's, great snapper, and hit the beach in front of our hotel to relax. Snorkling was great right off the rocks at our hotel, we saw eels and barracuda.
Day three , took the Jeep to tour the East side of the island. We were up and at'um by 7a.m. to beat any crowds- BEAUTIFUL BEACHES! WOW!! not a person in sight. We stopped at Chen Rio and planted ourselves at Punta Moreno for the rest of the day- Very rough seas so we were careful swimming- Body surfed and played in the waves for hours, nice little palapa area where we got some water and cokes- Scored on some blankets at a little stand there(4 bucks for 2 blankets
Can't say enough how isolated and peaceful the beach there was- I saw a couple of little huts/houses and wondered how we could rent one of those for a week-
anybody know? Wow, would that be a vacation. Went to mini-golf that evening, had a great time, nice to see such lush souroundings. Ate at Manati for dinner- great Salmon- no real menu there, just whatever they happen to be serving which was OK with us-
Day four we went on the Arrefices Tour of the reefs. This was a highlight of our trip- great time, met lots of great folks and saw three reefs- Had a buffet lunch at Nachi Chocum, Wow, what a beach club- Saw manta rays, a sand shark and a moray eel- COOL! I would recommend this tour to anyone- It was all day and it was only $65 for gear, buffet luch, all the drinks you want, sodas, beer, tequilla.... Went to the Crazy parrot Boce Club for dinner and had great pasta!
Fun spot dining outside.
Day 5 we relaxed, shopped, swam at the hotel pool which is great, snorkled at our dock and found Rock n' Java Cafe- Great place for great food- They have a book swap too that is nice. We did our laundry today too, we found a place that did a whole garbage bag full of laundry, washed & folded for 8 bucks! This is a great thing because fnally we had dry stuff- Things took a very long time to dry in Coz.
Day 6 we took the ferry across to Playa Del carmen and rented a car(National @ Hotel Molcas right past the pier $40) drove to Tulum- great place, beautiful beach- We got there very early and were the first ones in the place- played in the torquise waters then it started to get busy so we decided to head out. Stopped at Casa Cenote in Tankah for lunch, great spot with great food, they let us hang and snorkle right there. Didn't see as much diversity as in Coz but beautiful surroundings made it worthwhile. Dropped the car back off in PDC but wasn't ready to head back to Coz so we hung at the beach by the pier- Beautiful water and lots of folks to watch. Beach seemed more European with thongs and topless everywhere- My husband didn't seem to mind the heat at this beach HMMMM??!! We stayed for a few hours and headed back to Coz-Saw dolphins racing our ferry on the way back- couldn't have been better. Lobster house for dinner- great but expensive, glad we had our 2 for 1 card.
The last day in Coz we bummed around, shopped and relaxed at our hotel- We were both beat with the heat and all our activities- I would go back in a second!!!
Again thanks for all the tips!
Drop me a note if you have any questions about what's what!
