Cozumel

Help, I am planning a trip to Cozumel with my husband. We are coming May 19 to 26th. Haven't decided where to stay yet coz I keep reading all these horror stories. Anyone stay at Paradisus or Plaza Las Glorias? I know I am not staying at that El Coz place!!!Not from what I have read on here. Is there a place near town so you don't have to take taxis all the time, that has a beach, and you can go snorkeling from right there? Or is there no such thing as that? I read one guy watched snorkelers fly past his room so fast being pulled by the undertown rescue boats had to go get them?? I don't want to go snorkeling there...Please help. I just want to have fun...no danger...
