: We just returned 1-15-01 from this resort in Cozumel. : It was rated a 4 Apple by Apple Vacations and that means average to above average resort. : It was definetely not a 4 Apple - maybe a 2 or 3! : The views from the front and back are pleasing, the restaurants were just o.k. (actually usually onlty the pool restaurant was open). : Our room offered an in room safe - when you get there you are charged $2.75 per day for its use! : Our room also offered a hair dryer - broken ! Asked the hotel desk twice to fix it - no service! : Our bed was just a box spring! At one point I hauled the mattress off of the couch and put it on the bed! : Pillows were like sand bags! : There was no remote for the maybe 5 channel TV set - when we asked for one at the desk - there weren't any available! : The lever to turn the shower on pulled off in our hand! : The glass patio doors did not lock! Some security!! : The maid service was not up to par - dirty floor , rairly swept or mopped. : The refrigerator was noisy - turning on every 5 minutes at night - we could only run it during the day when we were out. : Our own front desk people tried to exchange our travlers checks at a rate LESS than the posted exchange rate!! : Lack of drawers - closet space. : No hotel information booklet in our room. : Phone either did not work at all, didn't get us an outside line, or had horrible reception even from room to room! : We complained serveral times and asked for a new room - they said none available and didn't fix our problems. : Traveled with friends - there room was right next to a room being remodeled - pounding all day! : They also were refused a new room. : Their patio door locked but the frame pulled away from the wall! : Same problems with their room - bed, phone, hair dryer etc. : We DO NOT RECOMMEND this resort. : Only good thing was the distance to town - the Hotel Barracuda had a nicer room and bathroom and costs half the price! : Hotels to recommend: : Allegro - either with or without food - awesome food, theme nights, best beach. : Iberostar - heard great service : Fiesta Americana Cozumel Reef - great snorkeling, food good but a little high, beautiful rooms, but would recommend renting a jeep all week because of proximity to town. : Please e-mail any questions - where to eat, etc. : We also highly recommend Dive Paradise as a dive operator!
