Don't know about Amigos. I've heard someone on the Travelnotes' board speak well of Summer Place. I haven't stayed there, so I have no personal knowledge.
My choice of the place to go is Alicia's Bed and Breakfast. Alicia is located in residential, just one building off a major road (easy access to taxis.) Her place is charming and spotlessly clean. Chuco makes awesome breakfasts and his guacamole is to die for. You will have a more "local" experience here. You can visit their website at http://www.gis.net/~alicia/cozumel.html
