: Thankyou Trudy for your insight.
: I have never been to Cozumel and I thankyou for your information.
: I am in the working class as well and have been only making $9.00 per
: hour for 4 years now FULL TIME. I know what it's like to struggle with that
: all mighty dollar. I have saved for 3 years for this trip almost.
: I didn't plan on not tipping for I have been to Mexico city and do know what
: it's like to have 6 year olds begging for a little money from you.

: I plan on going there open minded and just enjoying myself. Whatever happens, happens.
: No worries.
: thanks again for your input.
: Anything else you wish to tell me about it there is great, thanks.

It's probably too late to change your booking. I think you'll really enjoy Reef Club. I'm not hinting that you won't. But next time, you might want to try a cheaper way to go so that you don't have to scrimp and save for so long. You're going to find that you'll want to go back sooner than your wallet is ready. It happens to all of us. :o)

My first recommendation is to stay at Alicia's Bed and Breakfast. Her rooms are going for about $45/night and include a truly awesome breakfast. Her home is comfortable, extremely clean, and the atmosphere is one of acceptance and "home". You get a more "local" experience for much less than you would pay for a hotel. The only drawback is that it is in a residential area rather than oceanside. That was a concern for me the first two times I went. Then I realized that I only swam at the hotel beach once each trip. The rest of the days I went to other locations to access the water. So I've found that staying at Alicia's has no drawbacks for me. I'll never stay elsewhere unless she is booked full!

If you absolutely MUST be oceanside, try Casa del Mar. It is only a two star hotel...which made me fearful when I booked my stay there. But really, it's like a Motel 6 with gorgeous tropical foliage. There was no problem with the place being run down, dirty, or unsafe. It's not all inclusive, but Ernesto's Fajita Factory is just a few doors down...offering inexpensive fare. The trip to town is between $2-3. In town there are a myriad of inexpensive restaurants...Casa Denis, Villa del Dorados, Plaza Leza, Costa Brava, Nino's Pizza, and El Moro, Los Moros del Moritos a bit further from downtown. All have great meals at less than $8/person. So you don't have to go the all inclusive route...unless you drink vast amounts. Other than the supermarket, there's not a place with cheap booze. Anyway, not a place I'm aware of.

Snorkel from shore...I recommend Dzul Ha for great snorkeling. The Arrecifes offers a great boat tour. They do four reefs and feed you at Reef Club (lol) for $55/person. If that is too steep for this trip, you can always log that for future trips...there WILL BE further trips... trust me! :o) The Arrecifes is well worth every penny if you are interested in sea life and snorkeling.

I'm about to post a really long report on my snorkeling at Dzul Ha on the Travelnotes board. I have to retype it and don't want to do it twice. So check it out.
