We were at the Cozumel Iberostar from Sept 7 through the 14th. Yes, "rainy season" but we lucked out on the weather. We found the hotel to be very good! The service, friendly and excellent. Small rooms, but nice, clean, and perfectly adequate (the beds are VERY firm) there is a (free) safe, and the sometimes deadly "Mini-bar" was free! (a first for us) Try and get a ground floor room (during rainy season) as the thatched roofs leak a bit. Also take some "Insect repellent" (during rainy season) the hotel had some drainage problems and quite a bit of standing water in the low lying areas. Lots of mosquitos at night. They "fogged" our third night, and that helped a lot. The food was great. We were very pleasantly surprised. A great variety of excellently prepared dishes, plus things like whole roasted pig, (sorry Babe) turkey, etc., and truly more than "all you can eat." Ditto for the drinks. If anything, the bar service was more and better than the food. The pool is big and very nice. The beach is fine, 'till you get to the waters edge, it's rocky, [sharp] they have 3 'runways' that you can walk out on to get clear of the rocks, or go off the pier. Past the rocks it's fine.( Don't go running down the beach at night, after a few drinks, and dive into the ocean, you could get quite an unpleasant surprise!) We found the Dive Shop (Dressel Divers) to excellent. Very knowledgeable, professional, safe, helpful, friendly, and fun. Everyone there speaks English (and Spanish, and most speak, French, Dutch, German, Swedish, Danish, Afrikaans, etc., etc.) The guys running the dive boat were very helpful, knowledgeable, and FAST. One couldn't ask for better dives. Our experience was: small groups, each with two 'dive masters' one leading and one following. Very watchful, attentive, and helpful. We did five dives, four day and one night. (I wish we'd done more! We had to cancel one dive because of the effects of the excellent service at pool bar, they didn't charge us, just smiled and said "That's okay") We were a group of four, two experienced, one just certified, and one (me) with seven open water dives. We were all very impressed and pleased with the dive operation. Also the video/dive guy takes great videos, well worth the price. We WILL go back!!!!
