I just got back from the Crown Paradise Sol Caribe hotel on Monday, August 7, 2000. The hotel was very clean and the grounds were very carribean...lots of green plants, stone work, wood, etc. The pool was great (salt water though) and the swip up bar made for easy lounging. The beach was not huge, but it was private and provided lots of interesting fish to see while snorkeling...wear some type of shoes in the beach though as there are stones and some urchins farther out...The staff is remarkebly friendly and helpful...my girlfriend and I loved the Mediterrane Restaurant in which you received a five course dinner...you have to dress up in semi-business casual attire and make a reservation for it, but it is worth it...you can choose from different items on the menu and the staff there are the best i have ever seen...I mean, as soon as I finished with a drink, they were there to ask if I would like another one...they even swept away my bread crumbs before offering me more bread...you really will get your bang for the buck at the Sol Caribe...althought they were around, the time share people were not a problem...Alamo rent a car is located in the lobby and we rented a nice Geo Tracker form them for one day at the rate of $55...might seem a little pricey, but the convenience of picking it up and returning right there at the hotel's parking lot was definitely worth it...e-mail me for any info you might need regarding them...I thought it was a great place to stay.
