We stayed there a year and a half ago to try it out, as opposed to staying at the Fiesta Inn (now Costa Club). Good points: walking distance to town and all rooms are oceanfront. Bad points: surly front desk staff, rundown rooms sorely in need of refurbishing, no ice in the machines on any of the floors, lots of noise from the street (especially noticeable when you're trying to sleep). It also cost nearly twice the rate we could've gotten at the Fiesta Inn. We just weren't impressed at all.

In March, I visited a friend's room at the Casa del Mar and was quite impressed. It appears that they recently refurbished the rooms and it showed. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there and it's a heckuva lot cheaper than PLG -- save your money for important things like eating out or diving.
