Iberostar

Just got back from the Iberostar yesterday. The hotel is nice. The smell of sewage is nasty. Seems those tropical breezes kick up just as you are entering the main dining room. It was mostly at the evening meal that it was nasty. The stage and show were near the DR so you had to suffer the stink for the rest of the night. The bugs really seemed to enjoy it too so if you plan on staying for the show use bug spray as they are nasty.
The beach is very rough. You can't get inot the water without going over lots of coral. They have tried to make it easier by placing sand bags on the top of the coral from the waters edge but they are very slippery and if you fall you will land on the sharp coral.
The grounds are very jungle like as the government has not allowed them to remove a lot of trees. The beach will remain rough as they are no longer allowed to blast out the coral formations to make a nice sandy beach. You will need beach shoes for sure if you plan on doing any swimming in the ocean.
The rooms are small and the beds are very hard. I like a firm mattress baut it is really hard. Feels like you are sleeping on the box spring.
If I had to do it all over again I would go to the Allegro Resort. The beach was great, no sewage smell,rooms small but you don't spend any time in them anyway.
